Jonas Bens presented the paper "An Affective Ethnography of Fort William, Anomabu" at the workshop "Affective Dissonance as an Epistemic Resource," held on July 3–4, 2025, at the Collaborative Research Centre "Affective Societies" at Freie Universität Berlin.
The workshop explored the concept of affective dissonance as an epistemic resource in ethnographic fieldwork—those moments when something feels "off" or affectively disruptive, and which precisely thereby enable new insights. The keynote was delivered by William Mazzarella (University of Chicago).
