Job Opportunity in the Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CLICCS)"
11. August 2026, von Franziska Neubauer
Dear students,
Please find the announcement of a PhD position under Michael Schnegg's supervision at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Hamburg.
The main aim of the PhD project will be to explore how communities in the drylands of southern Africa, preferably in Namibia or South Africa, perceive and respond to climate change. Particular emphasis will be placed on knowledge and practices relating to soils, including Indigenous and/or permaculture perspectives.
The project will be embedded in our collaborative research group, which explores how people in different regions of the world respond affectively and practically to climate change.
